      Sunday, October 5, Eternal Roots Culture and Research Center (CICRE) is coming to Philadelphia we will have the 1st Great Bombazo of Philadelphia at the LightHouse Center on Somerset St. in Philadelphia, PA , starting at 1:oopm with group CUNAD, the “Boricua Rap” of Azabache and “Danza Fiesta’ from New York.  Starting at 5:00pm the Bomba dance will begin with the masters of the Bombazo of Philadelphia.  This event is brought to Philadelphia by the Community of United Neighbors Against Drugs (CUNAD).  In this activity we will recreate the old celebrations or dances of Puerto Rican Bomba so that the audience can participate in the different disciplines of the dances that are involved in this form of popular expression.  The teachers or experts of the Bombazo will be showing the audience how the dances are done and will be in charge of letting them know when they will participate; there will be skirts for ladies to have an opportunity to dance.  And also for those who are interested in percussion there will be drums so you can participate in the playing of the Bomba.   Last but not least, we will have craftsmen/women showing/selling the work that is related to Puerto Rico as well as food.  Don’t forget your skirt so you can ask the drum for a beat.
